Dragonflies are a group of insects requiring a great deal of dedication from a photographer. Although smaller species are easily approachable, their bigger cousins are way more difficult to trace.
Practically the only time to photograph them is before dawn during cold spring and summer mornings, when quite numb, they remain stuck to stems of reeds and sedges waiting for their body temperature to increase.
To capture images of dragonflies you would find useful zoom and portrait lenses.
